Ulm Minster

In the center of Ulm, on Münsterplatz, rises a magnificent Gothic cathedral. In the list of the world's highest church minster takes pride of first place, it is inferior even to the famous Cologne Cathedral. The height of its spire reaches almost 162 meters. Construction of the cathedral began in the 14th century, then the central bell tower was built - its main decoration. Then work a few times then pause, then started again. Among the religious buildings of Europe minster stands out not only in height, but also for its interior decoration. In the south-western part is the richest and most magnificent portal of the cathedral, it is called the Portal of the Virgin Mary. This is the place with the fragments of bas-reliefs from the life of the Virgin. Particularly noteworthy is the bas-relief, located in the main portal of the cathedral. It depicts Jesus wielding the globe. Also, tourists will be interesting to see the huge vintage stained glass, stone sculptures and the main altar of the cathedral.

You can climb to the observation deck at a fairly steep spiral stone staircase. Hence, from a height of 143 meters, offers a fascinating panorama of Ulm and its surroundings. Entrance tickets to climb the tower cost 4 euros for adults and children from 7 to 17 years - € 2.50, children under 7 years - free of charge. In winter, visiting open from 9:00 until 16:45, and in the summer opening hours are extended until 19:45.

Today in the cathedral are five bodies, each of them plays a specific day. And after Easter, on Sundays at 11:30 am at the Cathedral concerts of organ music. Typically, such a concert lasts approximately 45 minutes. To the cathedral from station fastest reached by public bus number 8.
