Church of Saints Peter and Paul in Oberammergau
Church of Saints Peter and Paul in the famous Bavarian village of Oberammergau was built between 1737 and 1742. The temple designed in the style of rococo is unique due to its decorations – wall and ceiling paintings. A huge number of church frescoes were created by the German artist Matthäus Günther. The unique upper altar of the church was created by the sculptor Franz Xaver Schmädl. All decorations of the church artfully depict sacred events: for example, frescoes dedicated to Sts Peter and Paul.
