Oberammergau Museum
The Bavarian village of Oberammergau is famous throughout Europe for its theatrical performances, amazing painted houses, and old craft of wood carving that has been developed here since the 16th century. In the Oberammergau Museum, you can see exhibitions devoted to the history and culture of the old Bavarian village. The collections of the Museum, founded between 1904 and 1906, demonstrate the uniqueness and abundance of handicrafts made of wood from the 18th century to the present. The Collection of Paintings behind Glass, which is located in one of the most beautiful houses of Oberammergau – Pilatushaus –, is also part of the museum.
The Oberammergau Museum can be visited every day except Monday, from 10am to 5pm. Ticket price is about 8 euros.
